Brussels, 24/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 July, the European Commission revised for the 8th time the blacklist of companies banned from access to the EU. With this quarterly update, the Commission has removed the operating ban from an Iranian air carrier, Mahan Airlines, but has maintained the operating bans imposed on the freight air carrier, Ukraine Cargo Airlines, and on Indonesian air carriers, despite a meeting with those in charge of three airlines at their request (Garuda, Mandal and Air Fast). The Commission has also included on the list all Gabon airlines, except for the two airlines already allowed access to the EU, Gabon Airlines and Afrijet. These may not, however, extend their activity and should abide by a strict regime with systematic pre-flight inspections. The air carriers of Cambodia, the Philippines and the Yemen carrier, Yemenia Airways, received a warning and are expected to step up their security systems before the next update of the blacklist, which may be consulted at the following address: http: //ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/pdf/list_en.pdf (A.By./transl.jl)
