Brussels, 22/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank has approved the extension of an earlier €90 million loan made available to the Province of Rome in July 2004. It will focus on access to the port of Civitavecchia, which is part of a priority trans-European network project, and will also be used to finance the feasibility study and initial phase of the “Fiumicino-Fiumicino Porto-Ostia Corridor”. This corridor is part of the regional plan, which provides for 11 public transport “corridors”, modal interchange parking and measures to improve safety, the state of the roads and traffic flow. The loan will also allow the infrastructure of some 300 secondary schools to be upgraded and be used for urban regeneration and cultural heritage schemes. (A.D./transl.rt)
