Brussels, 30/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - In the wake of Bulgaria and Hungary, Greece, on Tuesday 29 April, joined the South Stream gas pipeline project that is being led by Russian gas production giant Gazprom and Italian energy group ENI. On the sidelines of the visit of Greek Prime Minister Costas Caramanlis to Moscow, Russian and Greek Energy Ministers Viktor Khristenko and Christos Folias signed a cooperation agreement for the construction and operation of the Greek section of the South Stream gas pipeline that will carry 10 billion cubic metres of gas per year to Italy. The agreement provides for the setting up of a consortium jointly and equally owned by the Greek company DFSA and Gazprom. (E.H.)
