23/04/2008 (Agence Europe) -Cable operators registered rapid growth last year, with demand for new media and multi-channel television platforms reaching record levels, announced Cable Europe at its annual conference, held in Madrid on 23 April. Revenue registered by cable operators reached €17.9 billion in 2007, an increase of 12.6% on 2006 figures. More specifically: 1) the number of subscribers to cable digital television has more than doubled over the last two years and currently counts 13.9 million subscribers; 2) the number of broadband Internet subscribers has increased by over 20%, to 15.6 million people; 3) demand for telephone services has increased by 19 % to reach 11.6 million subscribers to cable telephone.
