22/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - The Council has formally adopted, without debate, its common position on a draft directive to include all civil aviation flights in the Community greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme (ETS) from 2012. The political agreement reached on 20 December 2007, under Portuguese presidency (see EUROPE 9570) paved the way for this step forward on 18 April. The text of the common position will now be sent to the European Parliament for second reading. (A.N.)
