15/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Members of the EP committee on civil liberties unanimously adopted, on 8 April, the report by Panayiotis Demetriou (EPP-ED, Cyprus) on the visit by MEPs to migrant detention centres of the United Kingdom from 21-23 November 2007. Although the MEPs note that the conditions of detention are generally good, the report deplores the fact that detention is too long, that there is a lack of legal counselling and that children and vulnerable persons are held.
