09/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - During their informal meeting of 5-6 May in Brdo, Slovenia, the EU transport ministers are expected to open the debate on public financing of trans-European transport networks (TEN-T), said the Commission's spokesman's service on transport on Tuesday 8 April. A study launched by the European Commission setting out all the national contributions of member states to the 30 priority projects of the network will serve as a reference document for ministers. According to another study prepared for the European Parliament, cited by the daily The Financial Times, of Tuesday, the cost of financing the network has exceeded the initial estimates by €40 billion, mainly due to bad management and bad planning of work.
