Brussels, 18/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Centre for the development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) has just announced in a press release that three years after its official launch, the Europass site has had more than 10 million visits, with 2.5 million curriculum vitas filled out online. Created by the European Commission and Cedefop, Europass aims to make citizens' skills and qualifications more visible on the labour market and in teaching and training throughout Europe. The single Community framework for transparency of qualifications and skills (Europass) was devised from a perspective of lifelong learning. It consists of five documents: the curriculum vitaes and languages passport is filled in by citizens themselves, whilst the other documents (Europass mobility, certificate supplement describing the diplomat or certificate) are awarded by the countries' competent organisations in member states. The Europass internet site (http: //europass.cedefop.europa.eu) is accessible in 26 languages and is aimed at half a billion citizens in 32 European countries through close cooperation between the Commission (responsible for the initiative), Cedefop and the national Europass centres in charge of implementation in participant countries.
