18/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - The EU has vigorously condemned the violent clashes that occurred on Monday 17 March in the northern part of Mitrovica between international forces in Kosovo (MINUK and KFOR) and Serbian Kosovans opposed to Kosovo's independence. These incidents led to many injuries on both sides. In a public declaration by the Slovenian Presidency, the EU27 reiterated their confidence in the capacity of the international forces to restore order and complete their mandate in compliance with Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council. The EU said that it “strongly believes that there can be no place for violence in Kosovo and that a multi-ethnic Kosovo can only be built through co-operation of all its communities”. (H.B.)
