29/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 26 February, the Commission approved three proposed concentrations. Arcelor Netherlands BV (a Dutch subsidiary of ArcelorMittal of Luxemburg) was granted clearance to acquire sole control of the ferroalloy business of OFZ a.s. of Slovakia. The Commission gave the green light to the acquisition of sole control of part of the energy company BP plc of the UK by INEOS Europe Limited belonging to the INEOS group (INEOS) also of the UK: the part in question is active in vinyl acetate monomer and ethyl acetate. INEOS Europe manufactures and sells specialty and intermediate chemicals, mainly in Europe. The third concentration was the purchase of joint control of Inalca SpA of Italy by JBS SA of Brazil and Cremonini SpA of Italy. All three produce and sell meat; Cremonini also supplies the catering industry. All three operations were examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (C.D.)
