04/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a statement published by the Slovenian presidency on Thursday evening 3 January, the EU takes note of the postponement of general elections in Pakistan until 18 February, and reiterates the importance of holding “free and fair” elections. The EU calls on all political parties to participate fully in the elections and urges the Pakistani authorities to improve the conditions in which the elections will take place. (H.B.)
