04/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - Russian and European Commission experts will meet in Brussels on 11 January for technical talks on the trade in vegetable products, reported Polish press agency PAP on Friday 4 January (see EUROPE 9570). It is hoped that the meeting will help lift obstacles to trade in vegetables between Russia and the EU and the opening of talks on lifting the 2005 Russian embargo of Polish fruit, vegetable and arable products (fruit, vegetables, wheat, flour, cereals, grains and bran). Negotiations about these products between the EU and Russia should continue on the fringes of the 17-19 January Green Week in Berlin, Germany. According to PAP, the value of Poland's fruit and vegetable exports to Russia stood at €110 million in 2005. (A.By)
