06/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 6 December, the European Commission presented the report by the European Consumer Centre Network (ECC Network) on complaints filed by air passengers in 2006. Luggage problems accounted for 33% of the 2,979 complaints lodged this year, with cancellation problems making up 26% and flight delays 16%. Two legislative acts currently govern air passengers' rights in Europe: - the 261/2004 regulation which establishes joint rules on compensation and assistance for boarding denied, cancellation or major flight delays (but not covering luggage loss); - and the international Montreal Convention (applying to luggage and individually signed by each member state).
