Brussels, 03/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission approved Romanian operational programmes, on Thursday 29 November, designed to promote employment by investing in human resources. The European Social Fund (ESF) will co-finance these programmes to the tune of €3.68 billion to help people increase their chances of finding or keeping a job, while providing lifelong learning. For Romania in this context, the Commission stresses social inclusion and the importance of the role of education and lifelong learning. However, it thinks that Romania must make efforts to improve the functioning of public services and to achieve an efficient public administration. (G. B.)
