28/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - As expected, the Council adopted without debate, on Wednesday 26 September, the three items of legislation in the third rail package. Most of the measures to liberalise international passenger rail transport ensure minimum rights for national and international rail passengers and introduce minimum standards for the training of train drivers and other staff on board trains. They will come into force in 2009 (see Europe 9509). (aby)
