Brussels, 27/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 27 September, following a recommendation by Jacques Barrot, European Commission Vice-President and EU Transport Commissioner, the European Commission appointed two new European coordinators for the trans-European transport networks (TEN-T). As announced in EUROPE 9498, Karla Peijs, the former Dutch transport minister and former MEP, will coordinate navigable waterway transport, with responsibility for priority projects 18 (the Rhine-Meuse-Main-Danube route) and 30 (the Seine Escaut Canal). Luis Valente de Oliviera, the former Portuguese transport, public works and habitat minister, will be responsible for highways of the sea. (aby)
