Brussels, 12/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - Industrial production in July 2007 rose by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU27, compared with the previous month, when production remained stable. Compared with July 2006, industrial production grew by 3.7% in the euro area and by 3.5% in the EU27.
In July 2007 compared with June 2007, production of capital goods increased by 1.0% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU27, with intermediate goods growing by 0.5% in both zones. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU27, while energy gained 0.1% and 0.7% respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 0.1% in the euro area, but remained stable in the EU27. Among member states, industrial production rose in 15 member states (including Ireland, +14.4%, and Slovakia, +4.6%) and fell in five, most notably in Portugal (-2.7%).
In July 2007 compared with July 2006, production of capital goods increased by 6.3% in the euro area and by 6.1% in the EU27. Intermediate goods grew by 3.7% and 3.6% respectively, non-durable consumer goods rose by 2.9% and by 2.3% and durable consumer goods gained 1.8% and 3.5%. The energy sector, however, fell by 0.4% in the and by 0.1% in the EU27. Industrial production rose in 19 member states, particularly in Slovakia (+18.9%), Ireland (+13.9% and Lithuania (+12.2%) and fell only in Denmark (-0.4%). (ab)
