22/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 20 August 2007 the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of the telecommunications company Orange Netherlands by T-Mobile Netherlands, belonging to the Deutsche Telekom group. The Commission's examination revealed that even if the operation would allow the new entity would be of a similar strength to Vodafone, the number two in the Dutch mobile phone market, this market would remain dominated by KPN. It also considered that the merger would not impede effective competition. (cd)
