19/07/2007 (Agence Europe) - At the end of her meeting in Paris on Thursday on the Libyan dossier, the European commissioner for external relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, said that she agreed with the French president Sarkozy. She added: “We want the return of the nurses and Palestinian doctor…any action that ultimately aims to get them back to Europe will be welcome”. However, she did not say anything about Mr Sarkozy's visit to Tripoli, which is scheduled for 25 July. Sofia confirmed that it had sent the Libyan authorities on Thursday an extradition request for the five nurses and Bulgarian doctors. This approach is based on a bilateral agreement of 1984 between the two countries, which included an exchange of prisoners but without any given deadline. (ab)
