Andris Piebalgs welcomes agreement between BP and Gazprom on Kovykta gas field

Brussels, 26/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs welcomed the signing of an agreement between the British oil company BP and Russian gas giant Gazprom on the Kovykta gas field (Siberia). On Friday, BP announced that it was selling its stake in the Kovykta gas field to Gazprom for between $700 and $900 million, and that it was setting up a joint venture with Gazprom.
