One week after buying a 30% stake in Austria's Strabag for €1.2 bn, Russian aluminium magnate Oleg Deripaska's holding company Basic Element has bought a 3% stake in Germany's biggest construction company Hochtief for around $200 mil and is planning to increase its stake. Deripaska is the world's biggest aluminium producer, now diversifying into construction, its second biggest business arm.
