10/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of Europe Day, on Wednesday 9 May, the Parliament welcomed several Nobel prizewinners. The winners of the Nobel prize for peace, chemistry, physics and economics came to discuss the present and future of Europe, as well as scientific, intellectual and cultural progress accomplished over recent decades. The ceremony was opened by President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering (EPP-ED, Germany). (gc)
