Strasbourg, 14/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Parliament again massively rejected (584 vote in favour, 89 against, with 19 abstentions) the proposal on voluntary modulation, which would transfer up to 20% of agricultural aid to rural development programmes. This mechanism (on top of the compulsory modulation in force since 2005) was ratified in December 2005 by the European Council at the request of Tony Blair, the British prime minister.
