12/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute organised a seminar in Florence on Friday 9 February on the theme: “A European referendum for the European Constitution - legal and political problems”. Taking part were university professors (Jean Victor Louis, Dusan Sidjanski, Renaud Dehousse), Secretary of State for the German Ministry of the Interior Peter Altmaier, the director of the EU bureau in Italy, Pier Virgilio Dastoli, and Paolo Ponzano from the European Commission. Discussions covered not only the general problem of a European referendum but also the specific aspects of such a referendum on the constitutional treaty.
