Commission wants to “freeze” 12% of sugar production

Brussels, 29/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - At the Agriculture Council on Monday 29 January, the European Commission announced that it proposed to provisionally withdraw at least 12% from the Community sugar production quota for year 2007-2008, due to begin in July. The proposal, designed to avoid a significant surplus of sugar stocks, will be put to the management committee in February.
