Commission green light to Advent and Carlyle's acquisition of H. C. Starck

Brussels, 25/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 24 January, the European Commission granted clearance to the acquisition of joint control of the H.C. Starck group of companies (Germany) by Advent International Corporation (Advent) of the US and Carlyle Europe Partners II, L.P., part of the Carlyle Group (Carlyle), also of the US. Advent and Carlyle are private equity investment companies. H.C. Starck is active in refractory metals and related compounds, advanced ceramics, conductive polymers and other electronic chemicals for various industrial applications. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (cd)
