Commission fines members of gas insulated switchgear cartel over €750 million

Brussels, 24/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 24 January, the European Commission decided to levy a fine of €750,712,500 on a cartel operating on the European gas insulated switchgear market. This is the highest fine ever imposed on a single cartel in the history of the Commission, according to Jonathan Todd, the spokesperson to European Competition Commissioner, Neelie Kroes. 10 European and Japanese companies took part in the cartel: Alstom (France), Areva (France), Fuji (Japan), Hitachi...
