19/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate, on Tuesday 19 December, the regulation allowing for aid of €45 per hectare (ha) to be granted for the production of energy crops in eight of the ten new EU Member States (EUROPE 9330). The Community surface area qualifying for such financial support is therefore increased from 1.5 to 2 million ha. Also, the text allows the Single Area Payment Scheme (SAPS) applied in these countries to be prolonged until 2010....
