Poland maintains veto - opening of talks on new agreement to be postponed

Brussels, 23/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - Friday's EU/Russia Summit will not, as initially planned, be able to kick off talks on a new EU/Russia partnership agreement. Poland kept its veto in place during a last Coreper meeting on Thursday afternoon, thus preventing the unanimity required of the EU25 in favour of opening talks with Moscow.
