03/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 1st November, the European Union brought an end to the embargo, in force since August 2004, on imports of ostrich meat from South Africa. The ban was put in place following two outbreaks of bird flu in the Oudtshoorn region, in the Western Cape province (south west).
