The German builder of heavy goods vehicles, MAN, is about to take over its Swedish rival SCANIA. This operation would make it Europe's largest, ahead of DAIMLERCHRYSLER, with a market share of 29% and a turnover of 14.2 billion EUR. MAN is said to have offered close on 9.5 billion EUR for SCANIA (the equivalent of 440 Swedish kroner per share).
