14/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - SSIG-FR, which groups French social services and general health service organisations (SGI), welcomes the vote by the EP Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on the Rapkay report on services of general interest, SGI (EUROPE 9264). MEPs clearly call on the Commission to launch a proposal for a sector-specific directive, in codecision, on SGIs. The collective organisation, which announces that it will make a concrete proposal for a directive, considers that only such a legislative act would allow legal uncertainties to be lifted and clarify the Community framework in this field.
