Brussels, 12/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - Visiting Brussels to present his country's new government, the prime minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, FYROM, Nikola Gruevski, explained his EU aims at a press conference on 12 September, namely preparing to be able to request a softening of the visa system as soon as possible, followed by full liberalisation of the visa system. Above all, FYROM wants to continue its reforms to be able to start EU accession talks next year, explained Gruevski. His country's other big priorities are boosting economic growth, cutting unemployment, fighting corruption and organised crime and implementing the entire Ohrid agreement. These priorities were welcomed by EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, who pointed out that the Commission would be expecting concrete action and results before it would consider the next stages of the process.
