Brussels, 04/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - At a conference on the Polish National Development Strategy in Warsaw on 26 July, Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hübner called on all participants to seize the opportunities offered by the new cohesion policy 2006-2013. The new European rules are now in place for Member States to set clear priorities in their regional policy strategy, she said. On the same day, Ms Hübner inaugurated a new section of the A2 motorway between Konin and Stryków. The total cost of this section amounts to €503.8 million. There was Cohesion Fund assistance of €389.9 million. “This is a real turning point for Poland and for Europe. I am here to assure you that the European Commission has done and will continue to do its best to help Member States make the most of the new regional policy programmes,” said Ms Hübner, noting the experience acquired by Poland in the management of regional policy programmes.
