27/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 18July, the EMEA (European Medicines Agency) published a warning concerning black cohosh root (Cimicifugae racemosae rhizoma) because data available suggests there is a potential connection between herbal medicinal products containing this substance and hepatotoxicity. Originating in North America, black cohosh root is mainly used to ease menopausal symptoms. It can also be found in various preparations used for rheumatism, stomach cramps, coughs, etc.
