19/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 19 July, the Commission appointed Italian Marco Buti Deputy Director-General of the DG Economic and Financial Affairs. Mr Buti will be in charge of economic studies and research, the economies of the Member States, structural reforms, the Lisbon Strategy and economic evaluation. As Director of the Economies of the Member States in the same DG, he supervised the application of the reformed Stability and Growth Pact.
