21/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 19 June, the EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate the regulation granting a two-year extension (for 2006-2207 and 2007-2008) to the aid scheme for flax and hemp producers (see EUROPE 9202). Only the Czech Republic abstained on the vote on this text. The new regulation maintains the current aid levels for long flax fibre (€160 per tonne) and short flax fibre and hemp fibre (€90 per tonne.
