GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/education/entrepreneurship

14/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, Secretary General of EUROCHAMBRES Arnaldo Abruzzini welcomes the initiative from European Commissioners Günter Verheugen (Industry and Enterprise) and Jan Figel (Education) to promote entrepreneurship in European Union schools and universities (see EUROPE 9130 on the two Commissioners' press conference). Developing business spirit is “vital to the dynamism of the European economy,” says Mr Abruzzini. He points out that EU Chambers of Commerce and Industry have long expressed concern about the lack of entrepreneurial spirit among young EU citizens. EUROCHAMBRES (an association representing 2000 Chambers of Commerce with over 18 million member enterprises in Europe) is now calling on the Commission and national authorities to put forward a detailed action plan with clear targets, to ensure that the project is translated into concrete results, and is willing to give its full cooperation and support to efforts to bring the business and academic worlds together to advance this project.
