Brussels, 11/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - The EPP Political Bureau has met in Brussels to prepare the next Party Congress to be held in Rome, on 30 and 31 March. EPP President Wilfried Martens comments in a press release that “the European leaders agreed in December the financial perspectives 2007-2013 with the decisive participation of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and the EPP leaders. One of the next challenges is to rejuvenate the European Constitution project”. In this context, the former Belgian prime minister said he was convinced that Chancellor Schüssel would give “fresh impetus to the European project”, and gave his assurance that the EPP would support him. The EPP announces the creation of a special website with a view to the Congress in Rome http://www.eppcongress2006.org .
