Brussels, 23/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of his appointment as president of the Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE), end November in Nice, the Luxembourg prime minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, said that the crisis that European is now going through is also due to the errors committed by the Heads of State and Government. He thus said: “We speak badly of Europe, we show disdain for it and we criticise it, describing Europe as a match between winners and losers”, instead of explaining Europe as the “search for common sense and lucid consensus”. Another error, Jean-Claude Juncker said, is that “we have not managed to convince Europeans of the virtues of enlargement” when, without the accession of ten new Member States, “our continent would be enormously destabilised”. Also, Mr Juncker stressed, “there are very few Europeans” who realise that single currency is the only “coherent and credible answer to globalisation of the economy”; “there are few Europeans who know about the European Union's many external missions”, and, he said, he has the impression that, within the EU, “little is said of our efforts to achieve peace and stability in the world”.
