07/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a British EU Council President declaration of 6 December, the EU welcomes the announcement made on 1 December by the president of the United Arab Emirates of his intention to convene elections for partial renewal of the National Federal Council. These elections would be a first in the history of the Emirates and is a major step forward towards constitutional reform, the declaration states.
