05/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Energy Council of 1 December adopted the directive on measures aimed at secure electricity supplies and investment in infrastructure. The Council supports the draft text amended and voted by the EP in July (British Conservative Giles Chichester was rapporteur), and the procedure ended with first reading (see EUROPE 8986). Member States are expected to transpose the directive two years after its entry into effect at the very latest.
