16/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - EU Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said last week he might withhold development funds (Cohesion Fund) unless Hungary met its fiscal targets. In an interview with the Financial Times on Wednesday, Hungarian prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsany commented: 'I think it would be unfair to Hungary, which is not a member of the eurozone.' Hungary's budget is expected to reach a deficit of 6.1% of GDP in 2005, and 5.2% in 2006 (see Europe 9064).
