GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/informal summit/chambers of commerce

02/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - Chritstoph Leitl, the president of the Wirtschaftkammer Österreich, is less than impressed with the leaders of the EU who took part in the Hampton Court informal Summit. "Maybe it was just some kind of 'feel-good' session for the Heads of State and Government (...), but certainly not for the people and businesses of Europe", Mr Leitl commented in a press release. He adds: "a lot of hot air, no result: once again, this begs the question of who has the goodwill and the skills for the leadership of Europe". This is made much worse by the fact that the necessary measures to breathe new life into the European economy were decided upon years ago, as part of the Lisbon Strategy, Mr Leitl points out, stressing: "the solutions are on the table, and now we must implement them".
