Brussels, 13/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Coordinated by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) and supported by the European Commission (DG Research), a new website was launched in Brussels on 8 September on local initiatives to combat social exclusion, called LOCIN (http: //http://www.locin.info ).
The LOCIN website is designed to compile examples of good practices by NGOs, municipalities and other institutions, explains an EAPN press release, and to identify key elements for the success and sustainability of local initiatives to combat social exclusions through mutual learning in various files, such as employment, social work, housing, health, education, training, culture, sport, etc. The freely accessible multilingual internet platform gathers qualitative information on more than 170 local initiatives, information on national contexts, commented bibliography and references or research centres in six EU countries (Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy and the UK). The site also provides useful links to NGO, research and policy websites. Info: fintan.farrell@eapn.skynet.be
