07/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption on Tuesday in Strasbourg of the report by Paulo Casaca (PES, Portugal), the European Parliament amends the proposal aimed at introducing an electronic recording of data on fishing activity on 1 January 2006 (EUROPE 8822). The EP provides for a two year postponement (January 2008 instead of January 2006) of the regulation, given the technical difficulties and the costs involved, and introduces special provisions for the smaller ships.
