29/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Istituto di studi federalisti Altiero Spinelli is organising from 28 August to 2 September in Ventotene (where the former European Commissioner and former MEP had been interned during the fascist rule), with the Lazio region and the Ventotene district, a seminar on the theme of Federalism of Europe in the world - Federalist proposals for reviving the EU. The rejection of the European Constitution by the French and the Dutch caused a serious crisis in the EU but could “also provide an opportunity for reactivating the European constitutional process on stronger bases, a press release states. This 24th seminar of federalist formation comprises an Italian chapter for 150 young people and an international chapter in English, and participants will include young persons from the 25 EU Member States as well as from Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Participants at the final round table will include former MEP Mercedes Bresso, the president of the Piemonte Region, Filadelfio Basile, the president of the Federalist Intergroup at the Italian Senate, Pier Virgilio Dastoli, Director of the Commission's office in Italy, and Giacomo Filibeck, President of the Young European Socialists.
