THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) ep/greens/european public opinion

22/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - Belgian Green Pierre Jonckeer MEP will be organising a debate on 27 August on “Different Views on Building Europe - Overcoming National Constraints?” The debate will be held during the Ecological Meetings of Summer 2005 on 25-28 August in Borzée (in the Ardennes in Belgium). According to a press release, recent events on the European Constitution show that “European public opinion is more important than ever before”. To examine how to “get over national interests and constraints and develop a genuine European debate”, several Greens from different EU countries have been invited to the Borzée, including Arnold Cassola from Malta, Secretary General of the Federation of European Green Parties, and the following MEPs: Hélène Flautre (France) and Berman Thijs (Netherlands).
