25/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - Called out by French, Irish and British trade unions (CGT and CFDT in France) and the International Trade Federation, five dozen sailors picketed the embarking of passengers on an Irish Ferries ferry on 18 July in the French port of Cherbourg to protest against social dumping by Irish Ferries. At the beginning of 2005, Irish Ferries replaced 187 of its staff with sailors paid far lower wages from Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Mali and the Philippines. (AFP)
