05/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner for external relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner has launched an appeal to the kidnappers of Egyptian diplomat Ihab al-Sherif who was taken hostage last week in Baghdad. The kidnapping could be linked to the fact that Egypt recently announced its intention to transform its diplomatic mission in Baghdad into a genuine embassy (the first Arab country to do make this gesture).
